Those of you who follow my blog know that one way I like to tune into things is by holding a question or thought in my mind and picking a Tarot card. I highly recommend this practice. As I've mentioned before, you can pick a card to see how the day is going to unfold or maybe a first date, or a job interview. It doesn't matter whether or not you think you're psychic. Just go with it, without anticipating or projecting the answer.
I decided to give it a try for August and September, asking about two general issues that affect all of us: Finances and Emotional Health. This is what the Tarot had to say....

ON FINANCE*

We are all reviewing our financial status. The Hermit carries the lamp of insight, introspection,
information gathering, analyzing. Our financial peace has been disturbed and he helps us take a close look at what's going on. The scythe he carries in the shape of a crescent moon, symbolizing the eternal fluctuation of the cycles of time and space. Cycles move in their own rhythm and no matter how much we want things to hurry up and improve, the Hermit has an internal understanding of the cycles of the moon, the seasons, life and death. He is patient and tells us it is time to withdraw, wait patiently, review, examine, before we know what to do next.
Resistance doesn't help you here and neither does a quick fix. The Hermit doesn't necessarily provide us with the answer but he helps us to slow down, gather wisdom and let the cycle unfold in it's own time. You can't move forward and you can't move back. Instead, you have to wait it out. Don't bother to struggle against anything. The best action is reflection and quiet, which will help you to stay calm while the storm passes overhead. Somethings must come to an end so that a new beginning can take place.

EMOTIONAL HEALTH
The Emperor sits on his thrown with the symbols of Aries and Mars (the planets of choice and delivery). When I meditated on this card, I felt it meant that you have to accept what comes, at least for now. It may be a stressful period but this is natural as you approach a time of making decisions. The Emperor is all about authority and self-control. He also represents responsibilities and with the raging currents of dissatisfaction and so much emotional energy crashing around us, it's easy to feel trapped by circumstances of family, business, jobs, and love relationships.
The Emperor, like a King, represents order and control, but who's in control? He tells you to use your power wisely and not allow the pressures you feel to turn you into a tyrant. You rule your own kingdom and you are it's only subject. Think before you speak, and look before you leap. There is a huge amount of anger building and a wise ruler doesn't fan the flames.
At the same time, emotionally charged events from your past can be haunting you, taking the form of "trapped emotions." You need to remove the old baggage! Develop the quiet strength of the Emperor and know that YOU -- the HERE and NOW you -- are in charge of yourself.
