Think about all the mistakes you have made in your life. Of all the foolish things you have said or done. Think about all of the opportunities you've screwed up on. Remind yourself of all the unkind things that have been said or done to you. Free yourself by first recollecting all of the gloominess when things did not go well. Put all these feeling s into the biggest bucket your mind can think of. Keep throwing these anxieties away whether it be from 30, 15, or 2 years ago. (I'll show you how later on). Put a huge plastic garbage bag over it for the sanitation collector to throw in the town dump and free your mind as the truck pulls away.
NOW - Think about yourself and how much you have gained, and learned from all these experiences which have toughened you. Sit down for fifteen minutes and think about yourself and all the wonderful things you have and love about yourself.
You have to break up the old mental concept and carefully build a new one, just an old building has to be torn down before a new one can go up on the same site. During the treatment, carefully build up a new mental structure. Brick by brick devoted to where you are now and the thoughts and choices of your future. Don't knock down what you have already built. If you constantly beat yourself up and change your thought patterns, you will wreck your mind instead of renewing it.
Your mind is your laboratory. To be negative, inconsistent, and slovenly in your mental life is to insure trouble and failure. The negative thought patterns you have, the fears, doubts and resentments, are to be starved out of existence by refusing to feed them with the attention upon which they live.
Thoughts nourished in love, harmony and peace, with practice, bring about the spirit of happiness within your soul. We reap as we sow and as we think good things, our corresponding limitations will follow it. This reaping takes time. Everyone wants what they want in a year or two or less, but since we do not live forever somewhere - 1 year, 2 or 30 years is a short time to pay for permanent results. This is what spiritual advancement is all about. Nature takes her time and we must not measure our earth time either. We would not be in the predicaments we live in now if we cared before. Yes, indeed, your thoughts are your life......
